Hey folks! Fewer than 24 hours remain in the Kickstarter campaign to pre-sell the hardcovers and DRM-free ebooks and audiobooks of my next novel, *The Lost Cause*, which will be published by Tor/Macmillan (US/Canada) and Head of Zeus/Bloomsbury (UK, rest of commonwealth) on Nov 14!

*Lost Cause* is a "pre-apocalyptic" novel about a future in which we have finally decided to do what it takes to save our planet and our species from the climate emergency. It's a book that bursts with hope, in which millions of people all over the world have committed themselves to intergenerational projects: rewilding, building seawalls, weatherizing and solarizing - even moving whole coastal cities inland.

350.org founder Bill McKibben called it "the first great YIMBY novel," adding, "this chronicle of mutual aid is politically perceptive, scientifically sound, and extraordinarily hopeful even amidst the smoke."

But if history teaches us anything, it's that the losers of a just revolution don't dig a hole, climb inside, and pull the dirt down on top of themselves. *The Lost Cause* is the story of the *counter*revolution, led by seagoing anarcho-capitalist billionaire wreckers and white nationalist militias. The climate fight isn't just a fight over how we relate to our planet - it's a fight about how we relate to *each other*.

Kim Stanley Robinson said, "This book looks like our future and feels like our present—it’s an unforgettable vision of what could be. Along with the rush of adrenaline I felt a solid surge of hope. May it go like this."

Other early fans of the book include Naomi Klein and *Library Journal*, who called it "surprisingly hopeful as it delivers a well-told story with plenty of dramatic tension that still manages to convey the message that dealing with entrenched politics is a marathon race, the surest way to lose is to stop running."

I recorded the audio for this one myself, after director Gabrielle de Cuir expressed amazement at how well I did narrating my nonfiction book "The Internet Con." It came out *great*:

I hope you'll consider backing the Kickstarter and pre-ordering the book! These crowdfunders don't just pay my bills, they also show other writers that there is a strong appetite among readers for DRM-free ebooks and audiobooks.
